Tired Creek

As spring approaches, many sports are practicing and even beginning to compete, including the Cairo High Golf team. The first meeting for joining the golf team was held on January 21, and the first official practices began on February 7. The first match will be held in Cairo at the Tired Creek Golf Course against Mitchell County High School on February 24.

Head Golf Coach Mr. Daniel Coleman told the Red & Black that their goals for this season are to establish Cairo as a strong presence within the region and to have consistency of play and overall player improvement.

Some of the biggest matches will be against longtime rivals Bainbridge, Thomasville, and Thomas County Central, as well as the tournaments against Lowndes, Colquitt, and Valdosta.

You can view the full season schedule on the Red & Black's Syrupmaker sports schedules page here.

  • According to Mr. Coleman - who will be joined by his father and CHS Drafting Instructor, Mr. David Coleman, Sr., as assistant coach - upperclassmen Bowan Kolbie will be a big leader for the Syrupmakers this year, as well as Jae Long and Nyla Jackson for the 'Maids.

Among the underclassmen, returning sophomore Watson Harrell is looking for a big year on the course.
