The Syrupmaker Varsity Soccer team is ready to begin their 2022 season against Thomasville at Cairo High School on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at 7:30 p.m.
Last season, the team went to the second round of the playoffs, so the players are hoping for the same outcome or better this season.

Seniors: Ethan Daughtry, Axel Thomas, David Velasquez
Ethan Daughtry
Axel Thomas
David Velazquez
17-year-old Ethan Daughtry is the son of Jennifer and Chad Daughtry and lives in Cairo. He has been playing soccer for five years, and his position is center midfielder. To stay in top shape, he also enjoys lifting weights. After graduating from CHS, he plans to attend Georgia Southern.
17-year-old Axel Tomas is the son of Maria Boltazan and Rogelin Tomas and lives in Cairo. Outside of playing soccer, he enjoys reading and plans to go into the Marines after graduating from Cairo High. He told the Red & Black that his dad inspired him to play soccer.
17-year-old David Velasquez is the son of Emilia Larios and lives in Cairo. He plays defense/winger, and his advice to younger players is to have respect and get things accomplished. In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with friends.
Juniors: Ismael Ponce, Greyson Blair

Greyson Blair
17-year-old Ismael Ponce is the son of Ismael Ponce and lives in Cairo. He plays mid-fielder, and his advice for younger players is to just stay motivated. He likes to hang out with friends in his spare time.
16-year-old Greyson Blair is the son of Misty and Brian Blair and lives in Cairo GA. He plays goalkeeper, and in his spare time he enjoys building computers.
Sophomore: Alejandro Lopez
Alejandro Lopez is 16 years old and lives in Cairo. He's really into gaming and playing soccer. He plays right back, and his little brother motivates him to do his best in soccer.
