CHS Dance teacher and R&B Dance Team Coach Hannah Russell

CHS Dance teacher Mrs. Hannah Russell has been teaching Cairo High’s dance course for four years now, but she has been teaching dance and choreography since 2014 at the Off Broad Street Centre for the Dance Arts and The FIRM Dance Company, where she now holds the position of assistant director. Mrs. Russell is also the choreographer for the CHS Show Choir and Stage Makers Theatre Department.

Mrs. Russell told the Red & Black, “Teaching dance isn’t a job; it's a passion. I love seeing students' faces when they learn a new skill or perform something well.”

Mrs. Russell graduated in 2015 from Cairo High School, where she participated in many clubs and extracurricular activities, including National Honors Society, Key Club, Work-Based Learning, and cheerleading, serving as captain her senior year.

She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Valdosta State University and is now working toward earning her Master’s in Dance Education from the University of North Carolina - Greensboro.

She is happily married to her husband Alex, and they have a beautiful baby boy named Asher who just turned a year old. In her free time, she enjoys graphic design, creating logos, videography, and video editing. Along with her passion for dance she loves music and has seen live performances of Fleetwood Mac; Journey; and Earth, Wind, and Fire.

She specializes in working with a variety of personalities and being able to bring them all together to put on incredible performances.
